Regulatory disclosure

This page states plainly what relocatejersey.je does, what it does not do, and where the boundaries sit. We would want any adviser to publish this before we engaged them.

What we are

A relocation advisory and coordination service. We plan relocations to Jersey, prepare and manage applications, coordinate the professionals involved, and handle the practical administration of a move.

What we are not

  • Not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice and we are not qualified to. Jersey legal work — including conveyancing, which passes through the Royal Court — is done by a Jersey advocate or solicitor.
  • Not a tax practice. We do not advise on your tax position in Jersey or anywhere else. Tax advice comes from a regulated adviser, and where you are leaving another jurisdiction it must come from a regulated adviser in that jurisdiction too.
  • Not a regulated financial services business. We do not carry on any activity regulated under the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998 or related Jersey legislation. We do not advise on or arrange deals in investments, act as or administer trusts, provide fund services, operate a money service business, or mediate insurance.
  • Not an immigration adviser. Immigration permission for Jersey is a separate matter from housing and work status. We coordinate that work and refer it to people qualified to do it.
  • Not an estate agent. We do not act for sellers or landlords. We may accept a commission or introduction payment from a third party involved in your move; where we do, it is disclosed to you in writing before we accept it, and you may instruct us to decline it. Our fee to you is fixed and is not a share of any transaction.
  • Not a government body. We are independent of the Government of Jersey and of Locate Jersey.

On Locate Jersey

Locate Jersey, part of the Government of Jersey, provides a free advisory and facilitation service to high value residents and to businesses relocating to Jersey. It is a genuinely useful service and nothing we offer is a substitute for it.

We will not suggest that Locate Jersey is unavailable, difficult to access, or that residency or a business licence can only be obtained through us. Those claims would be false and would breach the Consumer Protection (Unfair Practices) (Jersey) Law.

On outcomes

We do not guarantee that any application will be approved. Decisions on residential status, licences and permissions rest with the relevant Minister or with the Business Hub, and no adviser can commit them. Any service promising a guaranteed outcome should be treated with suspicion.

On the figures published on this site

Thresholds, rates and fees are sourced to gov.je, Locate Jersey, Revenue Jersey, Statistics Jersey or the Jersey legislation itself, and every page carrying a figure displays the date it was checked. Jersey figures change and superseded numbers remain in circulation on third-party sites for years, this site included once it ages. Confirm any figure with the primary source before acting on it.

Business licensing

Carrying on business in Jersey requires a business licence issued under Part 7 of the Control of Housing and Work (Jersey) Law 2012, administered by the Business Hub (Employment, Social Security and Housing). We hold the permissions required to provide the services described on this site.

Complaints

If something we have done falls short, tell us in writing and we will respond within ten working days with what happened and what we propose to do about it. Where a complaint concerns work carried out by a professional we introduced, we will say so and help you take it to the right place.

Standing disclaimer

Nothing on this website is legal, tax, immigration or investment advice, and nothing on it creates a professional relationship. It is general information about relocating to Jersey. Take independent regulated advice before acting.
